Songwriter and singer Jackie Trent has died. She co-wrote, with her ex-husband Tony Hatch, a string of hits in the 1960s for contemporary stars such as Petula Clark and Val Doonican, but is now best remembered for co-writing, again with Hatch, the theme music to the Australian soap opera Neighbours.

Her most recent album, Trentquility, is on Spotify.

The talented Jackie Trent was last seen as a guest on The David Hamilton Show around 3 weeks ago, as featured on Big Centre TV, which serves Birmingham & the Black Country. A great lady, R.I.P Jackie.

Jackie Trent was responsible for having written, with her husband & co-writer Tony Hatch, the UK Top 20 hit “Where Will You Be?”, recorded on Pye Popular 7N 17565 by Sue Nicholls, who at that particular time, 1968, was waitress Marilyn Gates in “Crossroads” before appearing as Audrey in “Coronation Street”. TV World, which was the TVTimes of the Midlands before October of that year, gave away the first 1,000 copies of that record in a competition in which readers matched the ideal song to the ideal celebrity.
