ITV’s Christmas highlights have been published and, as ever, there’s not that much on – with less advertising sales available on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, it has never made sense for ITV to pull out all the stops against BBC-1’s offerings.

However, one item does stand out from the Coronation Street and Emmerdale marathons: The World According to Kenny Everett on 13 December at 10pm.

In this one-hour special, we take a look back at classic ‘Kenny’ moments from his successful TV and DJ career and explore the life and work of this comic genius.

Some of the biggest names in comedy, music, television and radio share their stories about the man that had the nation laughing with his legendary characters such as Cupid Stunt, Captain Kremmen, Sid Snot and Marcel Wave, as we are guided through moments of his life in his own words through radio interviews and home movie footage.

The World According to Kenny Everett is the definitive tribute to a comedy genius whose influence then and now is a continual inspiration to entertainers, and whose unique contribution to comedy is still playing an important role today.

The book CUPID STUNTS is a very entertaining read but sadly very inaccurate. It would be folly for the programme to regard and use this as a viable source as it represents Kenny as a far lesser man than he, in reality, was.

I’m hoping this will be as essential and entertaining as the biography was. A great read. Miss Ken’s original style of comedy and how he made people laugh

Can’t wait to see it. I’ve been an admirer of Kenny since I was a kid. Big influence on me in broadcasting :)
