As Editor of Radiomusications, I am particularly pleased with this month’s update. For you see, RMC has a special section called Radio By Numbers, covering the arrivals 40 years ago of Radios 1, 2, 3 and 4. This section has been put together by some of our best writers and contributors here and compliments the Out Of The Light articles written by Robin Carmody.

Kif Bowden Smith, Mike Brown, Robin Carmody, Stephen Hopkins Hopkins, Jonathan Bufton, Kirk Northrop Northrop, Roddy Buxton, Andrew Bowden, Glenn Aylett, Nigel Stapley, Paul Fishwick and myself all have articles in this update, and most of us have done something that we rarely do, which is to write about our own personal memories of Radios 1, 2, 3 and 4. There’s a dozen articles in this update, making it one of the biggest updates we’ve EVER done.

There’s also a nine minute montage of the launch of BBC Radio 1 on site, as well Beatles producer George Martin’s ‘One-derful’ composition, Theme One, which was Radio 1’s station anthem at launch.

Plus in his monthly editorial, TBS Editor-In-Chief Richard G Elen talks about the recent ‘TV fakery scandals’ and at the accepted techniques that are getting booted in response. If you’ve been following the ‘fakery’ stories, this editorial is a must read.

To borrow from an old Radio 2 jingle package, “It’s all for you…” on the Transdiffusion Broadcasting System.
