Tyne Tees Television makes news again – Award-winning news!

For the fourth year running Tyne Tees Television has won a major award in the Competition for the most outstanding British Television Newsfilm of the year. This is the Tyne Tees record…

1962 – 1st in Hard News (silent) section
1963 – 2nd in Hard News (silent) section
1964 – 1st in Feature News section

and now in 1965 – 1st in Hard News (team) section

This year’s ‘first’ was won by Tyne Tees cameramen Robert Herrick and Norman Jackson. It was Jackson’s third newsfilm award. Both serve ‘Newsview’, the nightly programme which projects the news and the newsmakers of the thrusting North East.

‘Newsview’ is a typical Tyne Tees programme. Its award-winning cameramen are typical Tyne Tees people. Tyne Tees brings the North East the fastest news, the most imaginative features, the liveliest entertainment. It brings regional television at its best to over 80% of North East homes and over 85% of the population. To nearly three million regular viewers Tyne Tees is ‘our station’.
